Bosch Rexroth and Kawasaki plan profound collaboration to power next generation of off-highway machines and hydrogen solutions
Whoa, riders! Hold onto your bars — we’ve got some serious horsepower news rolling in from outside the track!
While we’re all chasing that perfect roost and gate drops, two absolute giants just teamed up to build the future of heavy machinery — and they’re going full throttle with smart tech and hydrogen power!
Kawasaki Heavy Industries and Bosch Rexroth just dropped the hammer on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on March 2, 2026, in Las Vegas — right on the eve of the big Conexpo show! These guys aren’t playing small… they’re teaming up to create next-level, software-defined machines for construction sites everywhere, with a massive focus on excavators, which account for about half of the construction equipment market.
Get ready for this lineup:
• Super-smart software that makes machines think and work like never before
• Advanced autonomous features for safer, faster, and smoother jobsites
• Better hydraulics, electric systems, and hydrogen-powered tech to slash emissions and crank up performance
• Innovative hydrogen solutions with a particular focus on cooperation in hydrogen filling stations
Dr. Steffen Haack from Bosch Rexroth fired it up: “With the off-highway industry at the cusp of a profound transformation, our planned collaboration can accelerate truly integrated, software-defined solutions for the global excavator market.”
Yoshimoto Matsuda from Kawasaki didn’t hold back either: “This planned profound collaboration with Bosch Rexroth significantly broadens our offering into advanced digital and electrified solutions, meeting the rapidly evolving demands of our customers…
particularly within critical segments like excavators. Furthermore, as one of the companies most engaged in the realization of a hydrogen society, we are pleased to be able to deepen our dialogue with Bosch Rexroth on hydrogen solutions.”
This is huge! Kawasaki brings its rock-solid hydraulics and excavator know-how, while Bosch Rexroth throws in top-tier electronics, software, and electrification. Together? They’re building machines that are smarter, safer, cleaner, and seriously powerful.
And the timing is perfect — this news comes hot off Kawasaki opening its very first overseas R&D Innovation Centre in Europe (Strasbourg, France) on March 1, 2026.
We all know non-road machines like excavators, loaders, and dozers kick out a big chunk of CO₂. This partnership is a full-send attack on that problem — pushing toward cleaner worksites and a real hydrogen-powered future.
I live for race day on the track, but when big moves like this happen that could change how the heavy iron moves dirt all over the world… you’ll hear it from me first!
What do you think, folks? Is hydrogen the future fuel for dirt-moving machines? Drop your thoughts below!
