AMA Supercross Round 15 – Press Day Recap
Hey, it's Paige Turner, and I live for moments like this.
Tomorrow can't come soon enough. Round 15 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship kicks off at Lincoln Financial Field, and today's Press Day gave us a thrilling sneak peek. There's nothing quite like the roar of engines on fresh dirt as the biggest storylines begin to unfold. The sun was shining while riders turned their first laps and faced the media.
The 450SX title fight is ridiculously close as we enter the final stretch. Hunter Lawrence sits on 286 points—just a single point ahead of Ken Roczen at 285. Cooper Webb holds third, 22 points back. With only three rounds left after Philly, every single lap matters. Eli Tomac's championship defense, meanwhile, is officially over following his scary crash in Cleveland.
Today's track felt long and fast, peppered with tricky rhythm lanes and a punishing whoop section that's already caused trouble this season. Riders hunted for the quickest lines while crews rushed to cover the dirt afterwards. Rain is in Saturday's forecast, which could easily turn the surface into a slick, rutted nightmare demanding both skill and grit.
Key updates from the press tent:
Hunter Lawrence talked about keeping his cool in this razor-thin points battle and gearing up for possible mud after his own Cleveland crash. Clean starts and smart decisions, he said, will be critical.
Justin Barcia is back in action after missing most of the season. A brutal Anaheim crash left him concussed with two fractured vertebrae. He reported feeling okay aboard his Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull Ducati and plans to use these final rounds to rebuild confidence ahead of the outdoor season.
Eli Tomac will sit Philly out. Scans after his hard hit in the Cleveland whoops showed no broken bones, but he's still recovering from the impact and needs more time.
Over in 250SX East, Cole Davies keeps charging toward the title. Pennsylvania's own Logan Leitzel and Seth Hammaker also caught eyes during practice. Clips from today's laps spread like wildfire online, giving fans a first glimpse of lines from Kyle Chisholm, Nick Romano, and others.
Saturday's schedule: qualifying sessions, followed by the full evening show at Lincoln Financial Field. A nail-biting points race, Barcia's return, and the threat of rain—this round has all the ingredients for chaos.
I'll be watching every move to see who delivers when it matters most.
See you at the gate drop, where the action never stops,
Paige Turner
