FIM Hard Enduro Championship Canceled for 2025
In a press release issued on February 28, the FIM announced that it is “making every possible effort to continue this path and is actively seeking and exploring alternative options that can hopefully allow the 2025 FIM Hard Enduro World Championship to take place, while acknowledging that amendments may have to be made to the original schedule.” This announcement follows the withdrawal of the series' main sponsor in December 2024, leaving event organizers scrambling for alternative funding. Winfried Kerschhaggl of WESS Promotion, the organization behind the Hard Enduro World Championship, addressed event organizers with a statement explaining the difficult decision." While discussions were held with potential new sponsors, most had already finalized their 2025 budgets, making it nearly impossible to secure the necessary financial backing in time. Despite conducting many promising conversations and successfully concluding several negotiations, we have reached the end of February—our self-imposed deadline—without securing the necessary financial backing to ensure a professional execution of the championship. Thus, we have come to the conclusion to cancel our plans for the 2025 season. This decision was taken with a strong sense of responsibility towards our potential new sponsors and all the partners who have supported us over the past years. Among them, without singling anyone out, were the FIM, all our event partners, Red Bull Media House, and KTM Group.” Don't worry! It sounds like we will still ge tot see Manny ride the Iron Road becasue despite the setback, select marquee events that have defined the Hard Enduro series—such as Erzbergrodeo, Red Bull Romaniacs, and Tennessee Knockout—will still take place in 2025, though they will no longer carry FIM championship status. For fans and competitors, this means a temporary shift rather than the end of hard enduro’s global presence. Whether a full championship structure can return in 2026 remains to be seen, but for now, the legendary races that define the sport will continue—just without the official FIM title.
